Amani House

In case you haven't read through the vision of Mattaw, I'll explain real quick why we name our houses what we do. Our main verse comes from Isaiah 61:3 which says "and they will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting (or garden) of the Lord, for the display of His splendor". Mattaw is the hebrew word for planting or garden. Our vision is that we would rescue children (uproot them) out of sickness, poverty, despair, and death and "plant" them in a family where they will be raised as "oaks of righteousness, a planting or garden (Mattaw) of the Lord". And we teach and hope that they would produce the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5), which are Penda (love), Raha (joy), Amani (peace), Uvumilivu (patience), Wema (kindness/goodness), and Imani (faith). So there you have it in a nutshell why we name the houses what we do.

Today we will put the walls up for Amani House! Hooray! Here is a sneak peak....

House three is the first one on the right with a bunch of bricks under it. It is set up where the bricks needed for each room is put on the floor of where that room will be so when there is a team that comes to help build, they spread out around the house and stack up bricks as if they were playing tetris!

And here is our Construction director. The most handsome hunk of burnin love. (to me) :-) Shoot, I'm so head over heals with this man! I'm so very thankful to be living out our dream together.

More to come on Amani House....

You guys are making amazing progress! Glad you are keeping everyone posted. Nothing better than seeing the house go up and knowing that soon more kids will have a place to call "home"!
